Trail Sunday Returns to Hiawatha!

In advance of the Salty Marie Trail Festival on July 26th, the Sault Striders are hosting a sneak preview of the 10km running course on Sunday July 13th. Meet at the blue shack at Hiawatha at 9 a.m.

We want to make sure you know all the ins and outs and ups and downs so you are ready to have your best effort come race day. As someone prone to getting lost, it’s always best to practice some navigation. This way if you do get lost, you can blame Jon.

We will be rocking our usual ‘party pace’ running on the flats and downhill sections and hiking those hills.  There will be hills.  Don’t get too salty about that.  Especially the last one, it’s known to have some bite.  Registration for the Salty Marie Trail Festival is still open, so sign up for a good time.

This Week’s Pop Up Events

Fort Creek Friday is back this week. After a good turn out, we decided to do it again! Meet us at the parking lot off second line at 6 p.m. for a 5k out and back.

Sunday Trails is back this week at 9 a.m. This time we are exploring the Gros Cap Bluffs. Park all the way end of Second Line West. We are planning a 10ish kilometre outing. If it’s hot enough, we might just walk right into Lake Superior when we finish, so maybe bring a towel.

Community Strong Success!

The Sault Striders came out with great support of the Community Strong Race Weekend. Events like this cannot understate the importance of the volunteers and organizers who make these events happen. The Sault Striders Running Club would like to extend our wholehearted gratitude towards to thank all those who organized, volunteered, and participated in this weekend’s races. We appreciate your time and efforts.

Attached is a piece by Elaine Della-Mattia Mills highlighting the need for community support. Thanks for sharing this with us.
